This manual was developed within the Erasmus + project „Innovative Academic Course on Integrative Interventions for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (IACIIC-ASD)”, 2017-1-RO01-KA203-037296.
The project partners, Universitatea de Vest din Timisoara, Romania, Universita degli studi di Firenze, Italy, Universitatea Lucian Blaga din Sibiu, Romania and Edukacijsko-Rehabilitacijski Fakultet, Zagreb, Croatia jointly developed this academic course and its materials- Student Manual and Teacher Manual.
The Teacher Manual is intended as a resource for the trainers (academics) but also to all those interested (practitioners, non-governmental organizations, parents, teachers).
The Teacher Manual is accompanied by the Student Manual, the activities presented representing models of methods and tasks of how the content of the student manual can be teached. For each of the five modules of the course (Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) assessment, Specific interventions for children with ASD, Educational Interventions in schools, Family and ASD and Advocacy for ASD) educational aimes and a work scheme is proposed. For each learning outcome of every module learning activitis and the necessary resources are presented.
What makes these volumes stand out in the publicistic landscape of specialized volumes for ASD is the integrated approach to psycho-pedagogical intervention for ASD, in various contexts: the assessment, educational, therapeutic and family , thus facilitating the specialists' relationship with the child and his family by approachig them in an ecological manner.
This volume provides a good start in deepening the psycho-pedagogical skills in intervention for ASD, offering current theories and practical information applicable in schools or clinics. It is a useful starting point for professionals aspiring to become agents of change in education and psychoeducational intervention. Through its balanced content, the volume invites reflection, action and further training in support of equitable education for all children.
