PREZENTARE CARTE
Covering roughly four decades of modern Japanese literature, from the 1920s to the end of the 1960s, the research studies in this volume offer both ample overviews of the life and works of writers such as Akutagawa Ryūnosuke and Kawabata Yasunari, as well as in-depth analyses of works by proletarian and tenkō (coerced political conversion) literature writers and theorists, and by Dazai Osamu, Mishima Yukio and Abe Kōbō, among others. The authors and their works in the volume are united by the deep awareness of the crisi(e)s of modernity facing Japan, and they focused their creativity and aimed their literary output at various ways to engage with it.
